Eerie Outdoor Tales

Whether you are hunting, fishing or just enjoying the outdoors, we usually associate the fresh air and peaceful quiet of nature as part of the experience. However, around the world people have found that they had less than enjoyable situations that occurred and some were life changing.

A fisherman in the U.K. reported a creepy situation that happened to him. He kept having the feeling that someone was watching him from the far end of the lake in the woods. It would happen every day around the same time, almost always around dusk and each time it seemed to be getting closer. The area where he was fishing was near a chateau that had been shot at multiple times during WWII. One morning when he woke up he wanted to make a brew and when he flicked the lighter he saw the silhouetted face of a German soldier with a helmet on peering from the outside darkness. The fisherman later found out that this particular area had been the location of a fierce battle between German and American soldiers and many of the German soldiers ran into the woods, only to be ambushed later and were buried around the lake.

Sometimes certain areas seem to repeat occurrences from the past. A camper reported that while he was camped out near an old river dam he woke up to the incredible sound of roaring water. As he crept out from his tarp, the sound immediately stopped. However, only a few minutes later the noise started up again and this time it include the sound of men screaming and logs crashing. Although he explored the entire area with his dogs, he couldn’t find anything to attribute to the noises.

Terrifying experiences can happen in any outdoor area and this includes a jungle. A Philippine Marine Corps member set out on a patrol to investigate reports of potential sighting of an enemy. They spent three days trying to investigate and finally came upon a faint figure in the distance. Upon coming closer they found that the person wasn’t walking but actually ‘floating’ along the lady. One of the soldiers wrote, “The figure was dressed like a normal living person but he had no face. The best I can describe it is as if the face was ‘erased.’ Its skin was very pale, as if drained of blood. It seemed to have bullet holes across its chest. At one point, it stopped gliding. I looked through my rifle scope and I had the fright of my life when I saw it looking back at me with its featureless face.”
