The Importance of Portable Water When you are In the Outdoors

Enjoying your outdoors excursion can take a complete turn when it comes to the topic of portable water. While the human body can go without food for a few days, it takes only a short amount of time for the body to dehydrate without water. The priority of healthy drinking water is the one subject that should be focused on, because not all water found in a natural environment is safe to drink.

Whether you are hiking, camping, fishing or hunting, you will probably come across a number of natural streams and brooks. Don’t make the assumption that just because the water is clear and clean appearing, that it is safe to drink. A variety of problems exist in that water and are contributed to by the various animals that exist in the environment. Everything from viruses to e-coli can be present in fresh water.

Beyond just animal contaminants, there are sadly human contaminants that might be present. Everything from pesticides to toxins may be present in the water and it is therefore a bad assumption that any water is safe. Many experts will tell you that the higher you are in elevation, where it appears to be less traveled, the safer the water might be.

If you are planning an outdoor adventure, you will need to invest in a high quality water purification system. These are typically not all that costly and the better the system, the higher the guarantee that you will be able to supply potable drinking water for yourself and any companions. This is especially important for any travelers that may already have a disorder that could have weakened their immune system. Additional bacteria and viruses can alter an enjoyable time to one that reduces an individual’s ability to travel or move and thereby places themselves and all involved at risk.

The two most important things to have as a priority step for any outdoor activity are: a high quality water purification system and a very well planned First Aid kit. The savvy outdoorsman understands the dangers and takes every precaution to address them.
